For this week's Forum discussion, propose an idea for an interactive Web application that you have not seen online yet. Discuss with your fellow students about the merits of such a Web site. Ideas are productivity tools that can be used at work, communication tools that can be used at work or by family members to plan their next get away. The sky is the limit. Make sure to comment on at least 2 of your fellow students forum posts.

An interactive Web application that i have not seen online that i would like to see would be a site that allows you operate your house from any LAN connection where you connect to the internet.

Be able to turn on lights in your house, opperate the dishwasher, turn on the water, and be able to see all your rooms with IP cameras. Open and close the garage, start the washer and dryer if you forget to run them.

This will make your home life easier. I dont know if they have this, but thats what i would like to see. forum posts.

  1. This is a wicked good idea, Justin. I am not sure if anything like this exists yet I have heard of similar things. I once watched a show on tv about the world's greatest pools and the number one pool was connected to the internet. If the family were on a plane ride home, they could switch their pool and jacuzzi on via the internet. I thought that was an amazing idea but I can only imagine how expensive it is seeing that these people were extremely rich and had the world's best pool.

  2. What a great idea! It would also be a good way to check to make sure you did something that you were supposed to do before you left the house. I always get halfway to work and start thinking that maybe I forgot to close the garage door or lock the back door. With this website you could check on it and have peace of mind (or fix the problem if you had actually forgotten!)

  3. This is wonderful; I have seen similar ideas on television. But we know that television is not real! I am always forgetting things when I leave home and this would eliminate my worries. Great idea!
